The Italian Navy’s EH-101 helicopters carried out a joint maritime training with the Spanish Navy. The 30th Naval Group, which was sailing to Algiers, met the Spanish Navy’s carrier Juan Carlos I south of Rota (Spain).
The event is part of a project that involves several navies operating in the Mediterranean Sea, such as Spain, the UK, the USA and France, in joint trainings on takeoff and vertical landing operations in reduced spaces using AV8B STOVL aircrafts (Short Take Off and Vertical Landing).

The protagonists of the training were the Italian Navy’s EH-101 helicopters, which carried out fast roping operations that consisted in descending a fast rope.
